The Forestry Corps program trains young adults for a year in forest resilience, and its fuel reduction crews complete priority projects for local departments, cities and counties in fire-threatened areas. The CCC also operates wildland firefighting hand crews in cooperation with CAL FIRE and the Bureau of Land Management.

Using either the CCC or a certified community conservation corps carries statutory preference in Proposition 4 grant scoring under Public Resources Code section 90150, and the CAL FIRE guidelines make the letter of commitment from the corps a required and scored attachment.

The practical difference from card 50 is reach and local fit. Urban Corps is a San Diego organization with an existing fire fuel reduction program and a charter high school. The CCC is a statewide agency. Either satisfies the preference; talk to both and compare crew availability and cost.
