Pre-applications are accepted on a rolling basis. The Conservancy received $30.9 million in accelerated Proposition 4 funding for forest and vegetation management.

Projects must be identified in a Community Wildfire Protection Plan or comparable wildfire resilience plan, must benefit public or protected lands, and must leverage resources through coordination across jurisdictions. The District can satisfy all three.

Buena Vista Creek drains to a coastal lagoon, which puts the riparian arundo and palm removal work named in card 12 inside the Conservancy jurisdiction. The Conservancy has already funded Urban Corps of San Diego County for this kind of fuel reduction work, so both the precedent and the crew exist. See card 50.

Because there is no deadline, this is the one program that can be started at any point the Board chooses to authorize it.
