Designed to reach high-risk target groups and reduce death and injury from fire and fire-related hazards. Wildfire risk reduction is an eligible activity when proposed as part of a wildland urban interface education and awareness effort, and FEMA added wildfire sprinkler trailers and tripod sprinklers as examples in the most recent cycle.

$32.4 million available nationally to fire departments, nonprofits and research institutions. The most recent window ran from 19 May to 22 June 2026, so expect the same shape next spring.

One caution before filing. Federal rules provide that when a fire district submits an application on behalf of a fire department, that department is then precluded from submitting its own application. Talk to Vista Fire before the District files, so that a District application does not consume the City slot. See card 35.
