Provides mitigation project funding to communities and burned areas where FEMA has approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant declaration during the previous federal fiscal year. Local governments including special districts are eligible applicants.
Eligible measures are home hardening, vegetation management, defensible space and other fuel modification activities providing neighborhood or community-wide benefits, which is a close match to the CWPP targets in card 12.
The currently eligible counties are San Bernardino, Butte, Riverside, Mariposa, Tehama, Kern, Los Angeles and Lake. San Diego is not among them.
This is listed as a watch item rather than an opportunity. If an FMAG is declared in San Diego County, the program becomes available quickly and on a short clock, so the project concepts should already be written when that happens rather than started then.
