Provides one-time funding to County departments, public agencies and nonprofit community organizations for community, social, environmental, educational, cultural or recreational needs. Public agencies operating in San Diego County are eligible and public safety including fire protection is within scope.
Applications are taken on a rolling basis with awards made quarterly for fiscal year 2026-27. Each supervisor controls their own allocation and their own schedule, so this runs through the District supervisorial office rather than a central competition.

The strategic value exceeds the dollar value. Card 10 notes that the District has no grant administration track record, and CAL FIRE scores that. A completed county grant, administered cleanly and reported on time, is the cheapest way to start building one.
